The Minister of the of Department of Home Affairs, Prof. Hlengiwe Buhle Mkhize, announced the conditions and processes to be followed for re-application of the Zimbabwean Special Permit (ZSP) on 08 September 2017

The new Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) initial Zimbabwean Special Permit (ZSP) project has now re-opened and applications can be submitted as from 15 September 2017. The ZEP is only open to valid ZSP permit holders.

 

The new Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) initial Zimbabwean Special Permit (ZSP) project has now re-opened and applications can be submitted as from 15 September 2017. The ZEP is only open to valid ZSP permit holders.

The administrative fee of R1090 will be charged upon submission. Applications can be submitted from 15 September 2017 until 30 November 2017. The ZEP permits will be issued for a maximum of four (4) years, effective from 01 January 2018 and expiring on 31 December 2021, notwithstanding the date of application.

The ZEP limits you to the following conditions:

  • Will not be renewable / extendable
  • Does not entitle the holder the right to apply for a permanent residence irrespective of the period of stay in the Republic of South Africa
  • Does not allow a holder to change conditions of his/her permit while in South Africa. ZSP holders who wish to convert their status to any other mainstream visa should apply timeously for such visa from within SA provided they meet all the requirements for that visa.
